Melina Economou received her B.Sc. from the University of Toronto in Biological Anthropology, History, and Near and Middle Eastern Civilizations. She received her M.A. from the department of Anthropology at UC San Diego and is currently working with Dr. Amy Non and Dr. Saiba Varma. Her research engages with transnational migration to examine the interrelationship between sociopolitical and historical factors, chronic stress, and health outcomes in refugees from the Middle East into Greece and Canada. She is passionate about engaging her research with refugee communities to inform policy and improve health outcomes for refugees resettled in temporary and permanent locations.
